Pigeon Roost Farm never gets old - it was such a beautiful October day. Hard to believe how much Ruby has grown in a year - last year she was such a peanut!
We will have to compare this to the actual picture. He asked me before he left, "Mommy, who do you think is going to take my picture at school?" Smiling at a stranger - there is no way.
So the other morning I was out in the garden early and noticed this crazy looking caterpillar chomping away on my dill. I asked the resident expert - Janet, our sitter - and she confirmed - we have a monarch. Currently he's hanging out in a jar until we get something a little larger for him - but i'm pretty excited to get to watch the whole process. Oh - and Wyatt is too. We'll have to come up with a good name for him.
We had such a fantastic Labor Day weekend. On Moday night we were asking Wyatt what his favorite part was - picking apples won - even above camping out with Daddy. We have to go back again - before the season is over - and I have to figure out how to make applesauce.
So over Memorial Day Weekend we headed to get take-out and then to the park to eat. I have been waiting to do this for such a long time - Ruby was too little last summer. So I finally got my chance.
As you can see it's a little cramped and Ruby found it impossible to keep her hands off of her brother. At one point I looked back and Wyatt was covering his face while yelling, "Keep your hands to yourself. That is not OK."
So we traveled to Cincy the other weekend to get some professional photos done. My goal was to get some good ones of Ruby since I haven't had any taken of her yet. She had many run ins with the concrete sidewalk - trying to catch Wyatt - and thus we didn't get too many outstanding ones of her, but enough. Some of my favorites below:
I was off a few days before Ruby's party and Wyatt was so excited to take me to all his favorite places (that he usually goes to with Janet, the sitter). This day we had a picnic lunch and went on an adventure "in the woods."
Since Wyatt's actual birthday was on a Monday this year I thought it would be nice to take him somewhere special - just the 3 of us. The whole day I was sitting at my window looking at how dark the sky was, but somehow the rain held off and we made it to the Clippers game. They were actually playing a double-header since they got rained out a few nights before. Between games they were warming up again and one of the players jumped up on the wall and handed Wyatt a ball - as he was lounging back on Todd. I wish I could've gotten it on video - his eyes just lit up and we spent the rest of the game watching our new favorite player.
